I have been the Director of Technology and math and computer science teacher at Lawrence Academy in Groton, MA since 1991 and I was a New York City school mathematics teacher for 10 years from 1984-1983. In addition, I was a software engineer at AT&T’s Bell Labs from 1984-1991. This is the third year that I have flipped my classroom and this year I have most of my math department teachers creating screencasts and two teachers are flipping their classroom completely. In addition I had one biology teacher implementing a mastery flipped classroom. I have co-presented flipped classroom workshop with EdTech Teacher during the past 2 summers at Harvard where we introduced participants to Camtasia and I consulted with the Mary Institute and Saint Louis Country Day School’s math department on how to implement a flipped classroom. I have given talks on the flipped classroom at the recent MASSCUE conference in Foxboro and at the recent Christa McCauliffe Technology Conference in Manchester,NH. I was a panelist at the Flipped Learning Workshop in Hartford, CT hosted by the Flipped Learning Network and CREC last November. I also co-presented a workshop on the flipped classroom at the TABS conference in Washington, DC last November. I have also created a blog site for flipped classroom enthusiasts at http://www.flippedmind.com.
